Marketing teams have quickly adopted AI, but adoption alone has not solved the practical problems behind lifecycle marketing. According to Salesforce’s 2026 State of Marketing research, 75% of marketers are already using AI, yet 84% still run generic campaigns and 69% struggle to respond to customers promptly. The missing piece is often not another model, but access to the right customer data, campaign context, and tools needed to act.
The new Reteno plugin for Claude Code and Claude Cowork is designed to close that gap. It connects Claude to a company’s Reteno account and adds reusable skills for common CRM and lifecycle marketing tasks. Once installed, teams can describe what they need in plain language, let Claude retrieve the relevant information, and review its findings or proposed changes without repeatedly switching between Claude and Reteno.
A regular conversation with an AI assistant can help brainstorm campaign ideas, rewrite copy, or summarize exported data. However, the assistant does not automatically understand how a company’s Reteno organization is structured, which templates are available, how existing campaigns perform, or which customer data it is allowed to access.
The Reteno plugin gives Claude this working context through two connected components. The Reteno MCP connection provides controlled access to the tools and data available to the authorized Reteno user. The bundled skills give Claude detailed instructions for completing specific tasks, including editing email templates, checking deliverability, analyzing messaging results, and reviewing onboarding funnels.
This changes the type of request marketers can make. Instead of exporting campaign statistics, preparing a spreadsheet, and asking Claude to interpret it, they can ask it to analyze the previous month’s campaigns directly. Instead of copying an email into a chat and explaining its structure, they can identify the Reteno template and ask Claude to clone, translate, or update it while preserving its variables, links, layout, and language-specific settings.
The result is not simply faster text generation. It is a way to use AI within an existing lifecycle marketing process, with access to the same campaign context the team already works with.
The first version of the plugin includes four Reteno skills, each created around a recurring marketing or technical task.

With the reteno-email-editor skill, Claude can read an existing Reteno email, analyze its structure, and prepare an updated version. A marketer can ask it to clone a template, translate the copy, replace an offer, or adapt the message for another market while preserving dynamic variables, links, Unicode characters, and language-specific CSS.
For example, a team can ask Claude to create a German version of an existing campaign and show a summary of the planned changes before updating the cloned template. This gives the marketer a chance to review what will change without rebuilding the message or manually transferring every element.
The practical value becomes greater when teams manage several markets or campaign variations. Repetitive production work can be delegated, while brand decisions, campaign strategy, and final approval remain with the marketer.
Deliverability problems often involve several separate checks across DNS records, domains, links, certificates, and platform settings. The email-deliverability skill brings these checks into one task.
Claude can review the technical deliverability setup of a Reteno organization and run public checks for SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX records, domain resolution, the short-link domain, and SSL. It can then save the results in Markdown and JSON formats while separating critical issues from recommendations.
This does not replace the people responsible for domain configuration or sender reputation. It gives them a structured starting point, makes the current setup easier to inspect, and helps the team identify which issues need attention first.
The reteno-analytics skill lets marketers request campaign analysis using ordinary business language. They can define the period, channels, minimum audience size, ranking metric, and performance indicators they want to include.
A request might ask Claude to review all email campaigns from the previous month, exclude campaigns with fewer than 10,000 delivered messages, and rank the remaining campaigns by click rate. The analysis can include sent and delivered volumes, open rate, click rate, click-to-open rate, conversion rate, bounce rate, and unsubscribe rate.
This makes campaign data easier to investigate without manually preparing it for every question. A marketer can move from a broad monthly review to more focused follow-up questions, such as which campaigns combined strong conversion with low unsubscribe rates or which messages underperformed despite high delivery.
This kind of access matters because AI adoption has not automatically produced better personalization. Salesforce found that 78% of marketers need more personalized content than they can currently produce, while 98% report encountering barriers to personalization. Its research points to disconnected or insufficient data as the most common obstacle.
Connecting Claude to Reteno does not eliminate every data challenge, but it allows the assistant to work with the messaging information already available inside the platform instead of relying only on fragments pasted into a conversation.
The web-funnel-analyzer skill can inspect an onboarding flow, capture its stages, and document the copy, required actions, and main conversion points. Claude can then organize the findings into a reusable brief for an onboarding email series.
This is useful when the CRM team needs to understand what customers see before messages are created. Rather than treating onboarding emails as a separate campaign, marketers can connect them to the actual screens, decisions, and friction points in the product journey.
A team could use the resulting brief to identify where a customer stopped, what they had already learned about the product, and what the next message should help them complete. The output still needs human judgment, but much of the initial inspection and documentation can be handled by Claude.
The Reteno plugin is built around review and permissions. Claude may ask for confirmation before using connected tools, and teams can decide which actions should always be allowed.
Frequently used read-only tools can be given standing permission when appropriate. Confirmation should remain enabled for actions that create or change messages, contacts, workflows, or other account data unless the organization has explicitly approved broader access. Claude also operates with the access rights of the connected Reteno user, so the plugin cannot perform actions that are unavailable to that account.
This reflects how people already tend to use Claude. Anthropic’s analysis of approximately one million Claude conversations found that 57% of task-related use involved augmentation, in which AI worked with the user through iteration, learning, or validation. The remaining 43% was categorized as automation.

For lifecycle marketing, that collaborative model is particularly important. AI can retrieve data, prepare an analysis, or propose an updated template, but marketers still need to judge whether the message fits the audience, whether the conclusions make sense, and whether a change should be published.
The plugin works with both Claude Cowork and Claude Code. Claude Cowork users need the Claude Desktop application for macOS or Windows, a Claude plan that supports Cowork, an active Reteno account, and permission to install personal or organization plugins.
Before installation, users need to enable network access in Claude Desktop and add *.reteno.com to the allowed domains. They can then add the Reteno plugin marketplace using the following GitHub repository:

After the marketplace is synchronized, the Reteno plugin can be installed from Claude’s plugin settings. The bundled connector must then be connected separately by signing in to Reteno and authorizing access. The connection uses Reteno account authorization, so users do not need to copy a Reteno REST API key into Claude.
Once connected, the setup can be checked by asking Claude whether an MCP server is available, requesting the latest email templates from Reteno, and asking which Reteno skills are installed. Claude should show the Reteno MCP server together with the email editor, deliverability, analytics, and funnel-analysis skills.
The main benefit of the plugin is that marketers can begin with the result they need. They do not have to know which API resources should be called or in what order.
A useful request should still include clear boundaries. Marketers can specify the campaign period, audience threshold, language, template ID, metrics, output format, and whether Claude should only analyze information or also prepare a change. For actions that affect Reteno data, asking Claude to summarize its plan before making the update adds another useful review point.
AI is already part of the marketing toolkit. The next step is connecting it to real campaign workflows, giving it the right context, and deciding where it should assist rather than act independently.
